OUR HISTORY

Shri Chatrubhuj H. Pethani & other founder members of our institution carried on sports and gymnastic activities in 1936, when population of Kandivali was less than 10,000. Shree Kandivali Vyayam Mandir (Akhada) was established by them in 1939. Subsequently, it was formally inaugurated by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 2nd June 1940.

Shri Jamnadas R Dattani, Shri Bhagwati N Shroff & Shri Shantilal Modi aspired to have a good club in Kandivali, where apart from sports & gymnastic activities, social & cultural activities are also to be promoted to cater to the needs of new generation.

Initially, a plot of land was acquired on lease, as a venue to promote these activities. Many legal, technical and financial hurdles had to be overcome to have clearance for constructing new club building. On the plot which was subsequently purchased and is now our free-hold property with our clear title & ownership rights. Finally after a struggle for about a decade, our club was inaugurated on Gudi Padva day 26th March 2001, by Shri Ram Naik, the then Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas.

The Club Building has been recently expanded from One Storey building to Seven Storey Building and has been formally inaugurated on 26th May 2019 by Shri Gopal Shetty, Member of Parliament (Mumbai North). The Club is now fully equipped with State of Art Building having various facilities such as Swimming Pool, Table Tennis & Coaching Academy, Modern Gymnasium with Cross fit, Wet Area (Jacuzzi, Steam, Sauna), Massage Services, Card Room, Carrom, Chess & Chess Coaching Academy, Badminton Court & Coaching Academy, Squash Court & Coaching Academy, Pure Vegetarian Restaurant with Bar, Lounge, Yoga Classes, Dance Classes, Karate Classes, Banquet Halls, Residential Guest Room, Open Ground for Events.
